Zachry bows his head and watches his tears soak in the sand where once before 1948 his grandfather’s olive trees grew but now his eyes can only spot tracks of tanks instead of children’s footprints. shadows fall over him coming from walls and security fences to keep the no longer rightful owners from returning home. checkpoints and flags daily rub it in his face: “you’re no longer welcome here”. I cast a stone in name of those who passed away under your iron fist of American funded militarism and a people without land because you can in no way with any god or religious script justify this claimed cause.
